Tell Kassis is located on the Kishon river. According to the Biblical description, this may have been the area where Elijah slaughtered the 450 Baal prophets. 1 Kings 18: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there”. Its name, in Arabic, means “the mount of the priest”. This name is due to the tradition that here was the slaughter of the Baal prophets by Elijah.
